Long time lurker, first time poster here. My question is this, do these cars have ashtray lights? Like in the ashtray? I mean I would think they do, even my cheap Toyota stripper has one, but I can't find it on either my 82 300D or my 83 SD It doesnt light up and I dont see a bulb anywhere and it drives me nuts.....Any advice appreciated...

My '83 240D has an ashtray light.

does your cig lighter work? if not there may not be any power going to the ash tray light which sits under the lighter.... at least on mine

mine has no power getting to it right now
with a good fuse and new bulb

maybe i'll take things apart on Sat. and see what's up

take the ashtray out and take it apart. it is straightforward and you will see the ''light'' , lol
