It won't actually. The factory fan is clutched and takes very little HP to spin until the engine hits 100*c.

No fan in the winter and spring adds almost 2 mpg to my Dodge and I don't see why it would not help a little with the Mercedes. The clutch is $200+ and a electric fan is cheaper. No shroud or fan gives more room up front also.

No problem ill show you what i did and i can even sell you the parts! ill put the movie on my new youtube account, for now look at my photobucket there must be pictures of my set up there. I am running 2 Bosch e-fans
with an automatic thermostat activation at 90' degrees and ill have a manually "spare" operated fan with 2 speeds a low speed and a "as fast as the fan can go" speed. its always good to have a spare fan in case something happens and with the "low" speed sometimes in hot weather/traffic/drag race/lapping you can just leave it on at low speed, since its a Bosch fan it will move like 1800 cfm at low so thats good when you do not want your fans going crazy when your car is really hot! ill have a video update on youtube of everything.......

Yeah well you take that very little HP back with e-fans i never liked and never will like clutch fan's Yeah.
BUT you will not GAIN HP BUT you will REGAIN lost HP with E-fans. My Bosch e-fans are so powerful they stay on for like 9 secs and the engine is already cooled.

Is Mercedes made by dodge? Didn't think so.

It also significantly reduces cooling ability.

READ WHAI I SAID -- I was also asking the originator of this thread a question when you PUT YOUR .02 in.

My Dodge 2500 Cummins gets better mileage without it AND I DON"T see why it would not help MY MERCEDES ALSO.

BUT OUT

That set up is overly complex. You coulda done this with junkyard parts for less than $3.

Or plumbed like this just to the right of the fog

It looks fine for what you have. Your attitude on the other hand is that of a 13 year old. If you do not want people to critique your work, you are correct- don't bother posting at all- we won't miss you. BTW, Lucky- FI is correct- there is no reason whatsoever to go to electric fans. You may not like the delivery, but the message is dead right. Your experience with other engine/makers is apples to oranges.

Nice -- I looked at your pictures and the fan looks like it belongs in there. Can I get something like this from Auto Zone or one of the retailers? Can you give me more information --- Mustang year- type engine?? Did you mount it to the original fan shroud??

Thanks
Robert

I bought it at Autozone, its a generic for Mustang, but no relay and auto thermo. You can buy one on Ebay for $19.Yes I removed stock shourd and intalled fan inside. You must first reverse fan blade for a puller, and reverse wiring.I added fuse and hooked to batteryThen ran the ground to a switch on the rocker paned then to ground.I just turn it on for city, and off for speeds over 40 mph.You can also order a fan on ebay, some with everything you need.Must be a 16 inch and 2100 cfm or higher.

Or $11 for a fan clutch; $29 for a electric radiator fan at u pull it- both with warranty. Any time you change the form of power- mechanic to electric/electric to mechanical/hydraulic to mechanical...etc- you lose some of it in the change. You can store some of the power in a battery or capacitor, but you have to pay the piper sometime down the line.
