I like the idea of having a bunch of cities and voting.
Call Adam, he will be in Sandusky with the 300D this weekend...

If it is much outside of MI then it will probably be too far for me...it'd co$t a lot in fuel....

I also need to figure out why my charging/alternator system randomly keeps going out on me. I got home today with my volt gauge at 12.0 volts instead of 13.9 Tomorrow is diagnosing day.

Check for voltage between alt casing and ground. If there's more than, say, .2 volts, then youve got a grounding issue... Can cause weird stuff, trust me...... You've got my cell number, give me a call!

Sturgis MI would be a boon for me, only about 17 miles away!

How about a nice quaint little town? Mendon, (where I actuall live) has a nice little river-front park, and is a cute little town. Best of all, Michigan state road 60 (M-60) is mainstreet in Mendon, so you CANT miss it.... And it's no further for most people then Sturgis or Coldwater.......

Let's Vote:

Alright, lets vote on a State first:

MI, IN, OH

Then we'll pick a region in that state, then finally a city in that region.

Sound logical?

I will open a Seperate thread in Open Discussion that is a poll. It will stay on for a week, then I will take the results and post here, then delete the thread.... Then we'll start over again for region, city, etc.... That will keep unneccessary jabber out of diesel discussion........

Here's the State vote poll: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=189231

This is exactly what i was going to suggest. Cedar Point is the *****. They have a hotel there too. I live about 30-40 minutes away from there.

Nope, it was the alternator itself, it had the old-style voltage regulator....which was unevenly worn (one brush half the length of the other? ) and there were deep grooves in the copper slip rings as well as on the ends of the brushes, looked just like a tiny serpentine pulley. The bearings were fine though.

New bosch rebuild seems to be workin' good. I got it at Murrays of Lansing for $135. Its a 65A too, my old one was a 55A....so it seems to not drop so much when the afterglow is on, or if I use the defroster or blower on high etc...the extra power was much needed.

If you have it near Lansing I would be glad to host you at my house for beer, venison brats and a good time. My driveway is big enough to display you cars and I have plenty of stuff to do around here (if the water give me my land back).

Cool thanks for offering...... Though, I believe I mentioned it earlier, I'd like to keep this a booze-free event........

Venison brats sound great!

We'll see what happens...... Looks like Lansing area is behind!

If I have no conflicts I will come about anyplace in Michigan except Detroit.... and maybe even there.

I will bring either the 82 300cd or the 280e euro exralley/autocrosser. If I bring the 280 it will be on my trailer pulled by my dodge cummins.

An autocross would be fun. Its ok with me if you serve beer but I probably would not drink any. The lansing area is where pastmaster lives. I know he would love to come if his health permits.

Better give the Coldwater area Chamber of Commerce a heads up depending on the size of the crowd. Same with the gas (diesel) stations so no one runs out.

As for me, I'm like pawoSD, watching the fuel expense. Plus June/July will be hectic with family reunions. But this sounds like a great idea.

Ok, I've been REALLLL busy getting my Benz back together and working my tail off @ my business.... But......... the vote selected "Detroit / East Side" as the region in the state of MI to hold the GTG........ But "Sturgis / Kalamazoo" was also close in votes....... SO, how about here:

Coldwater, MI

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitu de=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=&city=Coldwater&state=MI&zipcode=

I'll give you guys a few days to comment on this, then if it looks good, I'll do some phone calls Monday to the Chamber of Commerce, parks depart, etc....
