Zelienople? Damn! With a name like Zelienople, I think I'm going to have to go there just to see what a place with such a funky-sounding name looks like . . . .

@speednjay: Thank you very much! I will definitely let you know.

@Dee8go: I am very, very interested on urban exploration, as long as it is done safely. One of my teachers made a movie about an asylum in Massachusetts, called . I will see if I can visit Bethlehem Steel, I heard it is truly monumental. Pictures are definitely in order!

@AquaticEdge: Hey, hey, what is wrong with Zelinople? In one of my road trips I passed next to a place called Griggstown and another one called Krumsville. How about that, eh?

- - - - - - - - -

I talked to my instructors and they will allow me to leave early. I would estimate my date of departure to be May 15th. From then on, I will just start messaging people (message me too!) to see if they would be interested on meeting, so the route can be planned accordingly.

Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia is like that, but it's pretty well-visited, and so not so much of a novelty anymore. I have a book of photographs taken in abandoned subway tunnels, power plants, and bridges in New York that is pretty interesting.

abandoned places actually do make good photos, I've gotten some fantastic shots from those types of properties. though the owners think I'm nuts when I ask to go in and photograph.

There are some cool sites on the Internet for urban exploration. Some have some pretty nice photography. I saw one once that had everything shot on 4 x 5 B&W film. Some also have video, if you're interested.

I am so disappointed. If you came down I-75 thru Kentucky, you could stop over at our little bit of heaven. Plenty of spare rooms and we are trailer friendly! (we have a rather large one of our own). Sorry to hear Bree is not making the trip with you. Charming young lady. At least you will have plenty of forum members along the route to help you if any issues crop up.

My instructor, Bryan Papciak, is a very cool guy; I am proud to have him teach me. We talked yesterday and he told me the Bethlehem Steel complex had been bought by the Sands corporation and turned into a casino! He jokingly gave me 25 cents to try my luck in it!

Update: departure date will be May 15th!
I will start contacting people soon.

Departure date pushed to May 20th! Need to say goodbye to a bunch of friends in the area and get some cosmetics done in the car.

Added to the PA road trip is a Cape Cod day trip to say goodbye to BillyBob and Rick Macara (Mercedes TaxiCab).

Like I said, if anyone offers me lodging/food/advice along the way, I would love to help do whatever is needed! Art classes, drawings, small mechanicals, home or garden stuff... even Spanish lessons, you name it!

What time are you leaving that Friday? We meet up for lunch or dinner on the CT shoreline somewhere.
