That was great fun, guys. What a beautiful day. Thanks Kyle for letting me try the 240D, it's quicker than I though it would be. Trif, your '97 is so smooth. There was no problem pulling out on the highway, you're just spoiled by your E320! I can't buy your car because if we had it, my wife would NEVER drive the 300D or the 300SD! Thanks for letting me drive it. You need a good indy, the stealership is ripping you. Bob, thanks for the chowder, your girl is very sweet, I hope we didn't bore her. I'm going to change that fuel line when I'm in the mood to get down and dirty. Thanks Alex (Dieselhead) for the CD, would you mind pm'ing me on how to install it. Tim, nice wheels, you got me thinking. See you all at the Greenwich GTG in June.

Paul

That was a great day.

First of all Thanks to everyone! That was a good GTG.

Tim and Vivian, enjoy the 420 and thanks for the ride. I need a W126 so my 'back-seat' passengers can stop complaining about noise, space, power, etc. :p

Bob! Thanks for the chowda' I'll see what I can do bout the lobsters

Thanks especially for the EPC CDs DieselHead, I'm sure they'll be really useful

Russell, thanks for the tip on Rt128. I saw the accident from the bridge. Looked like a pretty serious one. Rt 128-> Rt.9 was smooth as usual.

You caught up fast I was worried if you were going to be speeding when I saw cop pointing his radar gun at people.

Kyle: sorry you didn't get a chance to buzz the freeway in the 'Chancellor-Mobile'. You can take it for a spin in Greenwich if you make it. Maybe I'll have the flags on the hood by then!

Holson: In a college town like Boston you need the big back seat for all sorts of reasons I think . We're already shopping for a little 300CD to add to the family but its hard to find one as sweet as your's.

Good to finally meet you guys. Sorry I missed the chowder and goodies, just have to get there earlier next time. And geez, your cars are all way too clean, some of you had to have covered transports hidden just around the corner!

Cheers
Jerry

Blu 420SEL

Your car was just sick. It was like insanely nice. If I didn't crave practicality and had some extra gas money lying around in my pocket, I'd pick up a 560SEL. That thing just moves on the highway with AUTHORITY. Lol seriously its a really cool car. It is just like such a comfortable car its amazing. The 420SEL was like a new breed of Mercedes for it, it was from taxi to limousine. Its amazing Mercedes can do both of these perfectly.

Aww shucks, you're going to make me blush! Thanks though, I'm glad people responded so well to the car. The whole way home my girlfriend was talking about how glad she was I bought it and what a good idea it was. This has never happened before :p . I love these cars, there's nothing better than feeling passionate about your ride...

BTW, do you think I could take Oskar for a spin? I was disappointed I didn't get a chance to. Embarassingly enough, I've only driven one other MB with a stick.

Ya sure

Lol yiu should've asked thats all. Oskar is free to be taken for a spin, but if you grind gears or break my clutch you pay for it! lol, I may possibly be at the Greenwich Concours, and you can definitely takke Oskar for a spin. He isn't very fast, but every once in a while when I rev him pretty high he sounds fast. The good thing about the stick vs the automatic is that Oskar, in my opinion, pulls much better uphills than the 300D Turbos I drove, you can put him into third and bring him right up the hill. Basically, first brings me to 15 MPH, second brings me to about 25-30 MPH, 3rd brings me up to 40-43 MPH, and then fourth brings me up to 80 comfortably. The first two gears basically get you there, fourth is a pretty high gear, has lots of range. I can use fourth down about 25 MPH if I want to. Really easy car to drive.
What other stick shift MB have you drove? 190E 2.3?

Back when I was shopping for convertibles I test drove a 99 Z3 and the salesman tried to talk me into a '97 CLK. I took it for a spin, nice, nice ride but this one was obviously beat and still way out of my price range. I ended up getting a Saab somewhere else but that ended up being a terrible mistake too (sigh...)

I love my reliable old W126.

Neat wheels. Did you need spacers for those? Car looks like it's in good condition.

Yeah, she's a beauty. My girlfriend would love that color too. How do you like the wind deflector? I was thinking about getting one.

Alex

You would need wheel spacers cus the offset isn't ideal. We put th eoriginal wheels on when we got back. Ocasional rubbing of the tie-rod assembly on the edge of the rim. Very Very light, only on turns.
