Does anyone know when the new C Class wagon will make its debut?

I'm after something quick and practical, like a C320T?

Any comments?

The wagons usually lag by a year or two. I was in Germany, and specifically at the factory store in Stuttgart as well as the museum this year and never saw a wagon.

I would expect it in another 18 months based on past wagon model introduction.

Good luck,

I think that Mercedes wagons are the classiest there are. I am not sure there will be a c-class wagon though, as I am pretty sure that Mercedes has always only had one class of wagon in its line up. However things might change if they decided to put one on the market to compete with the new BMW 3-Seried wagon.

Yes, the new C-Class wagon will be launched in Europe sometimes in March 2001. If I am not mistaken, the C320 wagon will be imported to North America with both rear wheel drive and 4-matic (all wheel drive) version in the September 2001.

There indeed was a W202 C Class wagon. It seems to be quite popular in Europe, but was not imported to the US.

Have a great day,

It seems like I saw a picture of the C Class coupe somewhere. That should be interesting, it will be so short, it may look like a CRX. Unless I'm dreaming, the picture I saw, was a front quarter view, so it was not representative of what it will look like from the side and back. Hopefully they'll shave just a little weight and put a 3.2 and six speed in it. That would really be fun.

Thanks for the info. Bill,

W202 Wagon was available in ALL trims!!! And that includes AMG version. But it was never sold in North America and most of Asian countries.....

Imaging C55T....now, that's one practical, killing mechine!!

From the MB Enthusiats Site, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9323/newcst.htm

Looks like the wagon will start production around Summer 2001 according to this page (half way down), http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9323/roadmap.htm .

This shape is probably from the mold of the Audi A4 Station Wagon. I drove one several thousand kilometers in Europe last summer, and it was more functional than it appears. To look at it, you wonder where the advantage is as far as cargo space goes, but it can handle pretty good size items.

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Merry Christmas,

The pics I saw before made the Wagon look nasty. ewww It looked really ugly. These pics however make it look much better. I guess its the camofladge that they make the models have.

Hmmmm C55T AMG now their's an interesting idea, ya now lets slap a Klennan Supercharger on it and add some nitrous boost...ya I kinda like it.

While a C55T is interesting a E55T does actually exist but sadly is not imported to North America. But for the ultimate in wagon performance the Euro only Brabus E V12 T is the undisputed champion. The huge 7.3 litre V12 engine crammed under the hood puts out an Earth shaking 582 hp DIN. That will make the any M5, E55 or 500E appear down right slow! Brabus is one of the independent German Mercedes tuners along with Carlsson, Lorinser, and Opus. When Mercedes bought out AMG it effectively closed the door on any one of the 4 tuner’s cars and products being sold at MB dealerships. But Brabus has already expanded to North America and Carlsson and Lorinser wheels do enjoy some popularity here.
The new C Class wagon looks excellent, a big improvement over the old C Class wagon (not imported). My favourite wagon available in North America is the BMW 528i touring which is far ahead of the E320 T in both styling and performance. .
I recently saw an official picture of the C class hatchback in the British automotive magazine Car. I believe it was called the Sports Coupe and it looked great, M-B said they would import it and I certainly hope they do.

C Class Wagon

This past Saturday I saw the new C wagon up close at the Detroit Auto show. I am sorry but it is garbage!!! All the new wagons coming out have that slanted rear roof line which looks like ****. Think Audi A4/S4 Avant, Volkswagen Jetta, Volvo V60/V40 and some of those new pansy SUV's as well. Toyota Highlander? I laughed my ass off.

A real wagon was the old Volvo 850R. Nice tidy styling.
The current BMW 5 and 3 series wagons are nice as well.
They've managed to get great aerodynamic drag coefficients and smart styling at the same time. The same goes for the E320 wagon.

Slanted rooflines? What are they thinking?

The W202 C-class wagon was quiet a success in europe (especially the diesels); they are to be seen on at almost every single corner here...
The new W203 C-class will make it's debut within 2 or 3 months (in europe) I was told.

The W202 wagon was available with almost all the engines, mercedes had put in their W202 saloon; even the 36 & 43 AMG engines.

A C55 AMG is not to be expected; the topmodel engine will be the C32 AMG (as is used in the W203 saloon). The E55 AMG wagon, however, is available.

As far as I have seen the new C sport coupe...The front looks great, the sides of the car are beautiful as well, but the rear sucks. It seems like the designers were out of inspiration when they had to draw that last side of the car and took something from a nearby japanese car...
The only good news about this sport coupe is that it will be sold with a diesel engine as well (in contrary with the current CLK).

greetingz,

I received a press release from MBUSA about two weeks ago stating that the C Class wagon will be introduced to the US in the fall of 2001. No plans for an AMG version. I like the styling; the car is not meant to be a minivan. Really, it's a car for people with an "active lifestyle" in the vein of the Audi A-4. If you want more space there is the E Class wagon.
