Hydraulic fluid for the SLS in my 1980 MBZ 300td is leaking. Is there somewhere I can find a diagram of the hoses for this? Leak is by the driver's side rear tire and maybe also near the reservoir.



In other news, I need a tire jack--is there a specific one I need for this car?

The hose diagram is in FSM 32-501. There are several other sections of FSM worth looking at though:



32-510 - Checking spring struts
32-520 - Checking pressure reservoir
32-530 - Checking pressure oil pump and level controller
32-610 - Removal and installation of spring struts
32-612 - Checking and replacing suspension of spring strut (T-sedans)
32-620 - Removal and installation of pressure reservoir
32-630 - Draining and filling of pressure oil system
32-640 - Removal and installation of pressure oil pump
32-641 - Conversion of suction and pressure line on model 123 with diesel engine 3rd version
32-645 - Replacement of radial sealing ring for pressure oil pump
32-660 - Removal and installation of connecting rod of level controller
32-670 - Removal and installation of level controller
32-671 - Conversion of oil lines between level controller and pressure reservoir in the event of complaints about noise



RE: the jack: Yes, there is a specific jack to the car. The jack lives in the compartment above the rear passenger tire; perhaps it's already there. If not, they're easy to purchase.

IIRC the jack on a W123 wagon (TD) is located in the right side rear compartment.

Usually the strut itself leaking back there unfortunately. Dripping out the hole for the shock bottom in the control arm is a pretty good sign of that.

I need to buy a return (low pressure) hose but cannot seem to find it in Peach parts...

I also need the alignment wedges in the tail gate, if anyone has the correct part #'s (different for each side's wedge) for the wedges and the hose and how long I'd appreciate it very much .

The part number may be on the last page of FSM 32-641 - Conversion of suction and pressure line on model 123 with diesel engine 3rd version.

They're selling it as Power Steering Hose, which sounds about right.

I bought my low pressure SLS hose from Reinvent the Wheel in Merlin, OR, so I'm unsure what's on my car.

I could be wrong, but IIRC the low pressure hose is not very special and then ends are just held on with hose clamps. The high pressure line, on the other hand, is a special, expensive, order-from-Germany part.

Never heard of the wedges for the tail gate. Mine doesn't close quite right, so maybe that's something I should learn about.

If your hatch doesn't open easily or sticks, have a look see at the wedges ~ loosen or remove them and see if the hatch opens better .

If so, DO NOT DISCARD THEM ! .

Lightly install one and eye ball it as you hold the latch nearly closed, adjust as necessary. once it closes / opens easily, tighten up the screws and do the other side....

Mine are shot from mis adjustment .

The place you bought your hose from tends to charge TWICE what the M-B Dealer does ! .

Screw me once, shame on you .

Screw me twice, shame on me .

I have a new hose and slip cover and clamp plus one wedge coming from the M-B Classic Center...
