FS: 1985 280SE 4-Speed Mississippi
I have decided to sell my 280SE. I will miss this car as it is a blast to drive and gets decent mileage for a car its size. We have five vehicles, two of which are Mercedes and this car sits way too much for my comfort. I cannot run them all. This is a European model with the original Euro bumpers. The car does not have speed control, is equipped with front power windows and manual rear windows, no cruise, U.S. Spec headlights, manual seats, good MB Tex, great carpet, manual climate control with the Sanden style compressor and still has the Euro owners manual.
Last summer I replaced all the a/c lines with new ones that were custom made. The a/c and heat both work very well. The 126 cars had manual control over the fan and air position but the temp was automatic. The sunroof works but sticks when you try to open it. Give it a bump or two and it opens just fine. The dash is cracked in a few spots. The rear bumper has a nickel sized spot of rust on the left side. The rear fender well have signs of rust beginning just above the bumpers. The car will need a front sway bar one day as the original broke on the drivers side at the upper control arm but I was able to repair it from tips on here. The car is presently located near Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is driven at least once a month to north Mississippi. Car drives really well, tires are in good condition. Drove the car round trip over the holidays and averaged from 23-26 depending on speed and a/c usage. The Bad: The M110 has recently been tuned, the major bushings of the front end have been replaced, Both flex discs, fuel pump & accumulator, clutch slave and master cylinder are fairly new as well. Engine burns very little oil between oil changes (not even 1 qt. in 3000 miles). Brand new Reinz valve cover set for valve adjustment included. The odometer in the car shows 240,000 miles but the engine does not run like it. The car is NOT equipped with any emission devices. NO oxygen sensor or catalytic converter. 100% mechanical CIS that runs great. The clear coat on the hood is peeling but the rest of the car is in really good condition. The center muffler was ripped open but welded back. Will need a center muffler in the future. There are some pics on my gallery, going to take some more pics as soon as possible. Will be willing to meet someone between Baton Rouge and Memphis. This car could be a real head turner with the right person and is very fast with the four speed easily obtaining 70. Many other 126 parts included with the car. Questions call Aaron @ 662.202.7406 $3200.00 OBO |
Aaron -- Can you post some pics?

Big body with a stick,,, that's the way to roll.

There is a few pics of the car in my gallery. Will get more when I get time and get back with the car. I'm in Oxford and the car is in Baton Rouge with my spouse. She is going to drive it here next weekend and yes, the big body is fun to drive.

Last call. This weekend the car will be placed on Ebay. Any interest?

interest yes..........money no:o. Good luck with ebay

You're in Mississippi? Did this one used to belong to Powerpig?
|
To my knowledge it did not. I have had the car about a year. The car was owned by an ex Air Force gentleman that had the car imported in 1994. I purchased the car from another friend that collects a few old Benzes...

I actually did have an 85 280SE Euro. Sold it in MS around 3 years ago. It was a great car and had around 450,000 on it when sold. The buyer drove away with a big grin on his face. :)

I doubt that this is the car. If it is, the odometer has been replaced because it currently reads 250,000 which coincides with the mileage it had on it when it left Europe. When the car left Germany the mileage was around 100,000 kilometers according to all the maintenance records in the glove compartment. It really is an unusual car with the four speed and would like to hear from others that have had or have one.

Damn..... Nice car but too far for me....

Aaron, drove a W116 S class (280SE with 4 or maybe 5 spd) in Germany 30+ years ago. What a blast getting that big sucker up to autobahn speed through the gears. The straight six would rev and like it. I think that's what got me hooked to the manual trans Benz's, any class. I've got a complete 5 spd setup waiting for when my mom stops driving and I get the 95 w/M104 back :D My wife doesn't understand that her wagon needs to be lowered and have a 5 spd.

This car is still available. I have not pursued selling it as I hate to see it go. I am willing to take a significant loss on the car as it has been hit on the right rear quarter panel where the tail lamp is. The damage is not very bad, but busted the light and will require some body work. I will consider any reasonable offer. Asking price is 1800.00 as is. The a/c is ice cold as well and functions as it should. I can get pics if desired.

I had one some years back. Mine was an 1986 grey market car with the same 4-speed manual as yours and similar options. Silver with blue velour interior (which was trashed). Drove great - a world of difference from the 280se automatics. Sold it to a guy in Rhode Island who found it here on the forum. Just thought I'd share.....
