My son has driven this car through high school and 3 years of college. Maintaining it long-distance has required extensive calls with mechanics who firmly believe I have no choice but to ----(fill in the blank, but be sure to include money).

It's been an ideal car for a young male driver (high coolness factor, solid, and slooooow), but I can't justify the latest round of needed repairs, so she's got to go.

We have here an '85 300 TD. 290,xxx miles. Believe it's always been a southern Indiana car (plenty of rain, but not excessive salt). Decent body and interior, good engine and hard-shifting transmission. Has some rust around the jack points and rust at wheel wells.

New Bosch alternator and radiator in the last couple of years. I will add more as I remember.

The big problems:

Rear CV joints
Bad front tire wear-assume it's ball joints
Cracked windshield
Power steering moaning
Significant oil leak (possibly front main seal)

Battery and CD/radio seen in the pictures do not go with the car.

Theoretically drivable, but I'd bring a trailer or dolly (those CV joints make alarming sounds).

Since all these cars go at least a million miles, we should develop a pricing system based on potential mileage. I suggest a penny/potential mile. Thus, my car with 290 k, with another 710 k in it should be worth $7100. Which would be sweet.

But maybe there are other factors to consider?
