1987 190D 2.5 Turbo w/available 5-speed

If anyone is looking for a decent '87 190D 2.5 turbo, this guy has one. It has about 180K on it, rebuilt auto trans. He has a 5-spd. with all the necessary parts to hook it up except for the clutch. Body is generally good, needs paint (clearcoat peeling) & a couple of small dents. Some minor trim is missing. Trunk is dry. New filters installed, new injector return lines. Has an Amsoil bypass oil filter on it (it's huge! Looks like it holds about 3 qts.) with new rubber oil lines attached. Filter has not been replaced.

Did not start or drive it, but it looks like a pretty good deal for all that at $2,500.

Diesel Mercedes 190TD

No personal connection, saw the car while looking at another one.

It's not too far from TN to Chesapeake, VA. Give Mike a call at the number in the ad. Maybe he could work out some way for you to see it.

I'm too far away to check it out fully, but maybe you could get someone in the area, like David Wilson, to check it out fully for you. My looksee was cursory, not in a lot of detail. But what I saw looked pretty good to me. I would buy it myself if I had the extra money.

Also, Mike now tells me that the 5-spd. tranny he has will be extra cost, not included in the selling price. He's talking in the neighborhood of $500 extra for the tranny & other stuff he has for it. He said he doesn't have a clutch for it, so that would be up to the purchaser. I'm sure it's negotiable.

Talked to Mike today. Car is off the market temporarily. He has a friend that need a car for a few weeks or so, so he registered the car & loaned it to him to drive until he can do better. Mike says he will probably re-list it for sale in about a month or so.

Watch for it on Craigslist, Norfolk VA...

He was asking $2500 for the car plus around $500 for the 5-spd. parts he had. Remember it has a rebuilt automatic tranny in place, plus he spent $$$ changing fluids, filters & various other small items - like the AC vents in the cabin.

Like I said, I would have bought the car myself, but didn't have the $$$.

Sorry, I didn't check in for a few weeks. Well I finally got my car to run right, meaning the turbo now spools up and I almost had the vacuum issues fixed, to evaluate before throwing more $ and time at it. I was awaiting some parts to arrive to fix the front suspension issue and just got that stuff completed.

My comment was to say that I can't see throwing a bunch of $ at these cars but of course it's my opinion. I figure if I couldn't sell a good solid rust free car needing some cosmetics for $800 with almost that much worth of wheels & tires on it then $5k wouldn't be a wise investment to me.

I must say it's a whole different car now after some work. It's rediculously fast and a blast to take up the road :) but I don't see it ever being a high dollar car. I need to get the vacuum lines corrected and some cosmetic stuff done then I'll decide if I want to take things further.

if you see one, just snap it up. they are very fast considering the size of the car and the motor that is in it.

Which part of West coast? I may consider selling my 1984 190D 5sp. One owner. 232K and counting. Everything works, A/C, power everything with keyless entry. Recent work - new front suspension rebuilt, new master cylinder, new tires, all 4 shocks. No money spared to maintain car. VIN - WDBDB22A2EA075957. PM me if interested.
