300D

Well it just figures this shows up in my backyard (I am in gas light clifton) and I am now in Sarasota until Saturday! You and I have the same taste in colors man - sounds and looks wonderful! If it is still available when I return I for sure want to check it out. Only worries are the rust but sounds from your description that it is very isolated. If it is not sold by the time I return I will contact you.

Decided I wanted to keep it, strip it and send it to be redone.

Keeping it

Well I must say it certainly was exactly what you described! For me it just came down to not wanting to take on the work/fear I would never get it finished and then be unhappy with it. If you get tired of it/want to move on after you have it painted let me know, I certainly would be interested at that point - of course I know the price will be more!

BTW, I had a buyer for your 500, but I see you sold it, he was disappointed! Congrats on the sale & thanks for taking the time to show me the car!!

Next time my 420 needs work I will bring it by - your location is great for me and you obviously know how to work on them

I must say that I have looked at and bought many used/older cars. It was refreshing to see that your description and pictures were completely honest and open and actually matched what I saw when I physically inspected the car - very refreshing to experience - probably preaching to the choir in this crowd but just had to weigh in as there are so many deceptive folks around today - Thanks for being ethical & honest man!

Mark,

Thanks for the nice note. Yes, the 500 sold to a local fellow in Amberley. Nice guy, Merc enthusiast---I think a flipper though, but nevertheless, who am I to denounce capitalism

In any case, I'll keep you posted as to the status of the 300D. I saw my paint guy this weekend so we discussed timeframe of getting it done. I'll probably begin the strip down at some point next week while I still have my 190 16V to drive (before that's sold too).

Give me a shout re: the 420 anytime.
