I was visiting my local independant mechanic, showing him my new 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo. On his lot, he had two Mercedes diesels he will be getting rid of.

The first is a 1979 240D, manual shift. I do not know how many miles are on the odometer, but the car has a lot of rust and I believe the mechanic said the floor panels are rusted all the way through. I asked him how the motor was and he said it was in great shape. The owner has spent roughly $600 in the last few weeks on the front end and brakes. The mechanic says this will be a great project car or parts car. I believe he said he is looking for $700 for the car.

The other car is a 1992 350 SDL. A young lady just purchased this car for $13,000. The car had 148,000 miles on the odometer. Within a few months, she managed to ruin the motor. The mechanic put a 3L turbo motor into this car which had 180,000 miles on it. This car is also for sale.

I tool the 350 SDL out for a spin and it drove very smooth. This was my first SDL drive so I have nothing to compare it to. The interior was in great shape and there is no rust on the body.

I stand to gain nothing from the sale of these cars. I know folks are always looking for 240D parts and also know the SDL cars are highly sought after. Had I not just purchased the 1992 300D 2.5 Turbo, I would be buying the SDL for myself.
