Looking for a 500E, what to look for?

Hello,

I am currently looking for a cream puff 500E (91-92), What should I be looking out for in these cars? From what I have read on this post, the engine is bullet proof, but I remember there being some mention of a wear check on the Cam?

Also, I found a 92' 500E local to me which has 96k but the asking price seems a little low even for the mileage, $24,995 sounds low . Here is the VIN, WDBEA36E9NB693359, can someone do a lookup for me? Thanks

I didn't do a lookup, but the VIN's appropriate to a 500E. Depending upon condition, price might be spot-on if it's been beaten. If not, for the miles it's only a little low. Drive it, listen to it, and ask about its history. Have an experienced tech check it. If all goes well, you might just get yourself a deal!

I think Lee posted a really informative post some time back. Definitely try searching, for it. In the post they discuss how to tell if the motor had been overheated, and if the fenders are original (indicating no major crashes)

At that mileage, you may or may not need some of the followin list of maintenance work done, if you are lucky the seller/previous owner may have done some of it. Timing chain (possibly) shocks, engine mounts, flex disk, lower ball joints.
