Intermitten clicking form rear of 500E

Hi all,

My 500E with 92k miles on it makes and occassion clicking noise from the back when the car is restarted after being driven 20 or more miles. The sound is quite loud. I sounds like the antenna trying to go up but is binding. This happen while the radio is off. BTW, The antenna is fine. My mechanic thinks it the purge valve solenoid. any one have any other suggestions.

Maybe the gas tank filler door lock?

I have replaced both rear axles on mine because of "clicking" noises. The right one went bad first, then the left one after I installed the gleason differential.

Alain, look what your car's been through (and I'm SO PROUD of it!)!! For those not viewing the link, his is the One Lap 500E...hehe. I imagine I'll have to keep an eye on mine.

Well, OK, I'll admit that mine probably sees "spirited driving" more often than most.
One thing's for sure......the area porsche club guys have alot of respect for the 500e,(when they see a 4-door benz doing faster laps than they are!)
