if you do it you will hear it rumble a bit at idle and when you back off when it has been reved up it will rumble a bit too. might actually gain a hp or two and maybe a half mile per gal too.

I've deleted the rear muffler on my TE and kept the center resonator. It growls pretty deeply, enough that I don't get on it in quiet residential neighborhoods. On the highway it's not that offensive. When you take off it has a drone that crisps up pretty sharp about 3500RPM. If you live in a posh neighborhood I wouldn't recommend it, the neiighbors may start to hate you depending on how early you leave for work.

Its cool. Do you know what size the pipe is though? It sits too low for me to go under and measure the pipe, and I wnted to pull the resonator, and center muffler.

Then perhaps a tip.

I removed the center resonator on both 450 SEL 6.9 and 190 E 2.6 and found a deeper sound. No drone at highway speeds or idle. No downside that I could notice at all and particularly in the v-8, the sound to me is proper.

Interestingly to me, after the center was pulled on the 6.9 and after having driven it for awhile, I had an x-pipe grafted in as close as I could get it to the front of the car. The idea is to even out the exhaust pulses and increase scavenging. The effect was that of a small muffler.

I have read and posted such, that the old hot rodders could put in a couple of crossover pipes at different locations and do without mufflers completely.
