wont the cross pipe further back hang down too low and drag? it will have to go under the driveshaft.

Tom,

The existing H crossover on my 1982 500SL Euro is placed way up front just as the pipes each side of the engine leave the exhaust manifold , and it crosses about where the engine meets the gearbox, and the crossover pipe is a good 2 to three feet long. This H crossover is well and truly high and ground clearance is fine .

In regard to the planned X crossover pipe , this will replace the center resonator/muffler . As on my 500SL the two pipes come together at this point , so its just a matter of removing the resonator and putting in the X crossover right at that site , and again the X crossover will have the same good ground clearance as the resonator .

Thanks for your thoughts and I will let you know by the end of this week how it goes with the exhaust work .

Justin, The problem in removing the center resonator is that it has two pipes on the inlet and one on the outlet. Deleting the rear muffler is as simple as welding in a piece of pipe and adding a stylish tip. I let my exhaust guy use his judgement on the pipe. He angled out towards the left side with a slash cut chrome tip.

HEHEHE....

I think I am going to cut it, and weld a new pipe on. Save some room, and weight.


Do you know if they make some square tips for the pipe??


Oh, and also, could I just clamp the pipe on?
