What can you guys tell me about this module?

How's it wired in, years it came in, etc.

I don't know what that module cross references too, but the W126 and the W124 (400e) both used a FGS module to upshift/downshift the transmission into 1st gear. The upshift/downshift speed is pre-set and not adjustable, I looked at this as a possible solution, then I found this

http://www.fgsswitch.com/

It works very well and I am very happy with it.

Any idea where it's mounted in the 400E? I know of a few and I need a few.

Thanks

If you look at the service manual, the FGS relay in the 400e is located in the fuse box or somewhere right in that area, I don't remember for sure, its been while since I last looked it up.

Scored one today from a 500SEC Euro. It's mounted right next to the cruise amplifier. It's black, with six pins. The following is what I know and has been cut/pasted here too. If there is interest, I'll follow up with a few pictures.

Here is what I know about that first gear unit:

Here is how to wire it up :

Pin 1 - wire to kickdown wire which is live +12V when switch is activated
Pin 2 - ignition live
Pin 3 - blank
Pin 4 - Ground
Pin 5 - wire from back of speedometer to give speed pulse
Pin 6 - blank

All you need to do is remove the white wire from pin 2 on this module and splice it to +12V Hot with ignition. Now you'll have first gear start.

That wire on Pin 2 is only +12V when you engage the B switch...as you may know, moving selector down to B and then pulling away gives you 1st gear start. So if you give this wire +12V at all times with ignition on, you will always pull away in 1st gear, without having to move lever into B. Just leave it in D and you will always start in 1st.

The module cuts power to the B switch at 7mph, at which point you get the 2nd gear shift... unless at full throttle.

Yes, it is similar to have the module for the 400e works, only problem is the shift point is not adjustable, 7 mph is way to early to be shifting from 1st into 2nd IMO. Hence why I went with a adjustable unit.

Well for normal dorking around 7mph upshift is adequate for me. If I need it higher my foot will be further down.

Any clue what the speed pulse wire color is?

It's installed aside from that.

I don't know, sorry, I took my speed signal directly from the ABS coax cable in the engine bay

it is NOT similar to the one in the 400E. The W124 400E/E420 get first gear start from an extra pin that is active in the LH control unit and utilize a basic 5-pin relay for activation. The 002-545-41-32 uses speed signals to engage a power output to the kickdown solenoid, thereby engaging first gear.

Also, the 002-545-41-32 FGS unit will NOT work in any 6-cylinder cars period.
