I am going to replace the hydropneumatic rear suspension in my 190E 16v with Bilstein gas shocks. I don't want to buy the expensive lowering springs yet though. I was hoping to get some stock springs from another 190E model that came without the self leveling rear. I don't care whether they are new or used, as long as I don't have to pay a couple hundred dollars like I would for the lowering springs. The only problem is I do not know what springs that came stock with other 190E's would fit on my 16v if I put on Bilsteins shocks. If anybody knows what springs would fit I would greatly appreciate the help.

Any 190E spring will fit!! The best springs for your car, so that the car isn't TOO high in the rear would be SPORTLINE, from a 1992 or 1993 car. Part number 201-324-39-04 with a list price of $69 ea.

W201 sportline springs

MB Doc

Do you have any of the data on these springs? My '88 TDM does not include these as they came out later. Thanks

Dude

One can get a set of new Eibachs for the 190E for around $250 for all four and coupled with some OEM Bilsteins will give a great ride with a great look and handling to boot. Of course, you can call a dismantler and get the used "sportline" springs which may or may not be spent and saggy. Get yourself or rent a spring compressor and do it in your driveway...I did, it was easy but get an alignment for sure after. try the 190revolution site too..many used 190E parts for sale. Good luck.
