Well, seeing the great response to the "500E roll call" thread, don't know if anyone's put a (recent) message out to all the Cosworths on this site.

Let's have it, include year, mods, pictures (though leave off references to one's "superfast no-fear sticker" upgrades, eh?)! I've already met a few of you out there and learned VOLUMES so far, very cool indeed.

Anyway, here goes:

-Paul Krasusky
-Hartford, CT
-'87 190E 2.3-16 smoke
-130k
-purchased 10/00 in Manhattan, 4th owner
-16x7.5 BBS wheels / 225/45/16 SP Sport W10's; Nokia snows - on factory wheels
-K&N filter
-No cats (!!!)
-ignition advanced a bit
-My goal is to keep it mainly stock; daily driver, etc.

Anyone in the New England / Tri State area interested in getting together, EMAIL ME!! Always looking for new local contacts. Hope to hear from you all.

FOUR???

So, including me, that makes a whopping FOUR? Come on now. It'd be good to get some more of you out there, great to trade notes, etc.

I have a 1986 2.3 16v racecar.
Been running SCCA ITE for 5/6 years now.
Too many mods to list off the top of my head right now,,,,
you can see it on my webpage at http://www.expage.com/benzracer

I also used to own a very nice 86 2.3 16valve- street car.
It was my daily driver until 1998, when I sold it to a friend of mine to help "finance" my cobra replica project.
It was a black/black 5 speed car with:
gutted pre-cats & aluminized 2.5 inch straight pipe going to a remus rear muffler

AMG springs all around, removed hydraulic rear & had bilstein sports all around

crossdrilled rotors, powderpainted calipers, 500e front swaybar, strutbrace.

My friend has continued to do alot of upgrades & mods,,including having almost everything on the car powderpainted, polished or chromed! He has won numerous car shows with it, and treats it like his baby. I still do alot of work on the car for him, and know that someday I will have the chance to buy it back.

Hello

Here's one!! 1986 190e 16v,it's the smoke silver color.I just
sold my 87 300e 5 speed for it. I got it for a song ,$2000.
Because it has a paint job from Jeff(signed under the rear 190
symbol)little rust under the rear fender flare, cat rattle, very unsteady idle ,hugh pause in acceleration, worn Toyos,160k
intereior dirty.and no power seats . BOY was I a happy camper!!!!!
Took it home in Lyme CT washed, waxed, shined seriously claened
the interior to the point of removing the seats to clean the carpet.
The inside of the car looked like its supposed to now very good
condition. The outside was a different story Jeff's paint sucked
fish eyes everywhere with little rock dents in strange places It
must have been rallyed.
The motor ,the glorious 16 valve cossworth Mercedes Benz motor!! I know I can make this thing run back to factory specs
First I was very fimilair with the fuel injection of the190 8v driving it about 60K with not one problem, except for blowing the valves
in to little pieces not the cars fault just driven to hard for so many
milesBut I did a full tune up noticed the micro switch had nothing
conncted Connected it ,looked at the other sensors ,temp wire broken ,soldered it, ground wire hanging off ,fixed it test started
the car ,took it for a spin WOW tires spinning in 1st in2nd no problem,6000RPM is easy and fast to see .I really drove the
heck out of her that dayTop speed runs 125 130 @ 5000
couldn't really look.and a vibration maybe the new tires?
nice 4 wheel drifts, lopes after lopes I couldn't make my other
benzs do this. this car is great!!!!!Now I got a KN air filter, free flow cat super coilomni pac, blistiens sport,ATE rotors, bosch 4 plugs,8mm wires, kumhos.I want the 2.5 evo2 motor but bekkers
doesn't like to talk about it. I wonder if anybody else can get it?
Enjoy the 16v its a rare and great Mercedes
Regards,
Dave

16 valve

There are 3 16 valve 190's in my area of New Jersey. Mine is pretty much bone stock except for the Bekkers big bore throttle body. No other mods except the removed center muffler. I have a brand new Bosal cat section and center/rear mufflers waiting to be installed. The original cat section has a heat shield rattle. 15 inch TSW 8 holes with 205/55 Touring TA's, POS tires!. Summer wheels are chrome AMG monoblock 2's with 215/40/ZR 17 Dunlop SP 8000's. BTW, the AMG wheels are for sale. Check out the classified section. Joe

Another 16 Valve Owner

I have a 1986 190E 16 Valve, smoke silver. 77,000 miles, second owner.

Mostly stock except for tiger-wood dash pieces and door trim. K&N air filter, clear corner lenses; After market "Sport Grille" with Mercedes Star in the center (makes hood star a bit superfluous!).

I have owned the car since 1988. Low mileage because I have not been driving it much the last 4-5 years. Finally got it out of the garage recently and have begun to drive it as my daily driver.

Have always liked the car, but it does have some drivability problems which many $$$ at the Mercedes dealer never could permanently solve.

I have recently collected all of the available books on the car (thanks to Ebay) so I hope to chase down some of the problems with the help of the available internet forums!

I am a retired aerospace engineer/manager living in Santa Maria, CA -- the beautiful Central Coast.

Best regards

Tom Elerding

Another 16V

I have a '86 Rauchsilber which I bought 8/99 w/ 23000 miles. I have just turned 46000 and have just about fixed everything that needed fixing due to the storage time prior to my purchase. All I need now is the A/C fixed, but an arm and leg I can not spare.
Everything is stock on the car so as not to draw attention to myself, but for American roads, this is plenty of car from the factory.

Ah HA, I suspected more were out here! Today's count is up to ten, with an equal split of 86 & 87's. Mods seem to be consistent (except for that Evo project! Wow!) Hmm... still no Evo's here? That'd be cool. Chris, is a "Rauchsilber" German for Smoke? Just wondering.

Hey Dave, you're in Lyme CT? I'm here in Hartford. Email me.

Anyway, keep 'em coming, I've already learned a ton from a couple of you just from bouncing things off of e/o!

Nardo Cars

Hello
I drive an 85 2.3-16V Nardo era car...this car was not built for export...20H.P. more then 86-87 imports from D.B... Lets not forget that in 84 3 production 16valvers in an "introduction stunt" by D.B. shattered the 25000 and the 50000 kilos endurance records at the Nardo high speed circuit in Italy..the previous record had stood for 30 years...running around the clock it took 201hours 40 minutes to set the new records..the fastest averaged154 MPH and the slowest 151 MPH averaging 12.3 M.P.G. 30 second pit stops and 5 minute oil/ filter and valver adjustment stops when needed..the Nardo cars beat the existing record by a remarkable 30 % My 16valver smoke with black hides is completely factory stock....and when I have the nerve will run 144MPH@6200RPM in 5th as judged by my brother's 911
I feel fortunate to own a peice of D.B. history..I will never sell the car..as its my everyday driver.
Neil cann't help but smile with a 16valver
