Wheel offset 35mm/41mm/47mm etc.?
On the subject of wheel offset does a 35mm offset mean that this is a more negative wheel or positive as compared to a 41mm offset? Does the larger the number in millimeters mean more positive or negative offset? Does the larger number in millimeters mean that the wheel will stick out further from the car or the other way around? I know that this is a basic question for a lot of you but it will clear up a disagreement with some guys if I can get the correct answer once and for all.
Thanks for your time Phillip |
This should help visualize things for both offset and wheel width effects.
http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html This site does the same thing for tire width and diameters. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html The tire rack banner in the 'wheels' sub forum also has a good discussion with diagrams and pictures. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm |
This site is also very good in it's description and visualization (with cut-aways, etc.):
