its been almost a decade since I visited this thread.
The other day while I was surfing YouTube, I ran into a video that appeard to be a hybrid bellowing. It appeared that the transmission was a BMW 420G with a welded on Mercedes bellowing. The transmission housing with the welded bell was on a lathe and it looked like the inside weld was being machineI cant find the video anymore.

And chance that video is of this project?

Sorry for falling off the planet. My mom was in and out of the hospital for a couple of months and passed away mid May. I have had my hands full but am finally getting to a point where things are handled.

I got the trans mount forks fixtured up and ready to weld and then all hell broke loose. I will get the mount repaired this week and start to build a crate for the Trans.

I picked a small pallet from a ware house pile to use as a foundation for the trans pallet.

Trans rear mount fingers repaired. Going to give it a once over and crate it up..

was gonna say, "ah, wait, doesn't the clutch mount the other way around?"
Then I realized, "no, on a wooden divider panel, that's the way to to do it."

In short, "Thanks Dave!"

I haven't seen much on this thread in a while. But I found this and thought it would be worth posting.

For newer V8's and V6

For I6's

No V12's or old Maa6/M117. I guess I'm still on the hook.

John, am glad you asked, because Dave & I got distracted (and buried in snow) around Thanksgiving. Everything is packed up and ready to ship back to me. I just need to wake up the car from several years of slumber and the result should something that moves under its own power.

That will take a little while, but it will happen in 2022.

That's an interesting way to do it. Maintain the original flywheel as the starter ring gear, and bolt their custom little deal to it. Not sure how cost effective it is from a maintenance perspective in the long run, but who knows!

The nice thing about the M112/M113 is that the 6-speed from both a C240 and the Chrysler Crossfire will bolt right up. The associated flywheels will work too (use C240 flywheel for an early M112/M113, and Crossfire for later motors).

Definitely excited to see CTH's progress at his next update. He'll have one fun car, that's for sure!

I've had to pull my motor out due to needing to get to a cracked front cover (I won't go into details on this, other than it happens) and figuring I may as well do all the seals front and rear while I'm at it.

But now that I've got it out, I'm wondering if I should start looking at getting that T5 in there. M113 would be cool, but if I can buy myself a few more years of driving with the M117, I will.

My autobox is misbehaving, and I don't want to rebuild another, nor send it off to Sun Valley and let them do it for me if ultimately it's gonna be removed anyway.

I would definitely like to get the car back on road ASAP, but at this point I'm in no hurry save for state inspection and registration in September.

The guy who sold me my 75 XJ12C does these conversions for a bunch of cars. Check out www.thedrivenman.com

I'm pretty sure that he has a kit for a pagoda which I expect would work for a 617.

He only has them for the W113's. Which were already available with a 4 or 5 speed manual?

TKx is a 5 speed. Any concerns with the Magnum 6 speeds.

There's a manual option for just about every body style of Mercedes from the 50's - 90's. Some were just not available or common in the US.
