M120 into 560SL Blue Ridge Parkway Endurance Test

Last year the M120 560SL "Samson" logged about 7500 miles including several cross country drives. The furthest being a 900 mile round trip from Wallingford CT to Buffalo NY.

This year will be a 1800+ mile round trip from Wallingford CT to Pawleys Island SC. The trip will start on the 12th of April and go to SC via 400 or so miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, top down.

The car just got a new set of tires and a limited slip differential from Phantom Grip. New plugs were installed and everything is running as tight as a Benz.

If you decide you would like to take a break around the Lexington, VA area let me know..parents can see the BRP from their house.. Guest house sits empty 99% of the year FWIW.

You should swing on down to Atl;-)

Finally able to get some pictures up.

Stoped in Scranton on the way to Hagerstown. Got a picture to Samson next to Big Boy.

After meeting with the fearless crew in Hagerstown, we continued south along Skyline Drive. These pictures are the first stop along skyline drive.

More Pictures to come

Stopped by Monticello to consult with a fellow traitor. Then onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. 470 miles of winding twisting roads, or lack of roads to Deals Gap.

Select Cars and Trucks for 4/14/10 and scroll untill untill you see the 3 SL's scroll further to get them on the return.

Best I could estimate with no speedometer, overall was

2570 miles total traveled @ 130.95 Gal = 19.625 MPG

Best leg - Bryson City SC to Lugoff SC, 237 mile at 9.498 gal = 24.95 mpg
Worst leg - Linville NC to Bryson City did the gap than back to Bryson City, 246 miles @ 15.121 gal = 16.27 MPG.

I purchased 6 of the full resolution Killboy.com photos. Here they are from Killboy.com. I had to cut the resolution down to get them on here but they are real nice. Now I wish I washed the car before running the gap.
