Lightbulb Modifying a C200 Elegance

Hi again all,

Just wanted some advice. I drive a 1997 C200 Elegance. While im not overly happy with the power (it pisses me off so hard when the a/c is on and the car has 5 ppl in it-slowwwwwwwwwwww), it handles quite well and is well geared for most situations. The point is, im wanting for more power and handling with minimum costs. Im getting 17inch low profile alloy wheels next week which will help i guess. I mean what i want to do really is lower it, put an exhaust on and modify the motor somewhat. Are there any kits like superchargers out there for the W202 C-200 Motor? I mean id even be happy just swapping the springs from what they are now to the sport or esprit models that came out which were apparently a bit lower. Any advice would do!

Thanks
Christian

Hopefully a 450SEL 6.9 soon!

The 'Elegance' suspension is pretty soft. AMG makes a spring/strut kit under part #66020025, about $1759.68 Canadian dollars. I understand that it lowers the car a bit, and keeps pretty much the same normal ride while improving the cornering.

Most acceleration improvements are going to be expensive. I think Kleeman makes a supercharger kit, or the supercharger off the US C230 could work (not a long life component, I hear). A space saver spare or no spare but an inflating/sealing can could save some weight, as could lighter wheels.

You might explore MBenz' page to see just how much can be done to a 1997 C class, with enough time, money, and skill: http://members.tripodnet.nl/mbenz/index.htm

I got Mercedes-Benz door sills on ebay for USD$ 220. Front two are lit, rear two are not lit.

Well, let's put it this way... I took it out of the box, layed all of the items out, stared and thought.... and about 10 minutes later realized I had not a clue.. so I took it to Circuit City (local electronics store), and they installed it in about 1/2 hour, and for about $60 bucks. Not too bad.
