Well if the cfm was done at 10" it would be pretty good. But what is amazing is how much better he got the flow. On intake at .350-.400 lift he got the flow better than stock at .500. On the exhaust side he is outflowing at .250 lift over stock. He is showing about a 15% gain on the exhaust.

so he's modded it a little? im a little confused, as it says, 'modded, all standard parts, 31mm valves, all standard part'??

So the 1st set of numbers is stock intake and under that ported and other work to the stock parts. He just means that they did not put larger valves or anything. The second set is exhaust stock and ported valve work. etc. Just the same as intake but the improvement in the exhaust was significant. The shop here that I had take a look at a head for me we were discussing the exhaust bowls have a lot of room for improvement.

I dont know if the attached will help answer my question:

i am planning on retarding my exhaust cam by a tooth. i know it might not gain me any usable power. still i doubt a tooth should risk valves hitting anything, but i am worried abt when the intake cam is advansed. so what do u guys think, will there be a risk?

I think 1 tooth is to much just due to lobe center. Especially on n/a. You need the cylinder pressure to get the exhaust flow moving. I think a half tooth would be maybe beneficial. I have seen people drill out the gear and adjust it that way. From what I gather the lobe center is pretty much perfect. Just more duration would help. But to answer your question I do not think that it will have interference on the intake valve. I checked how far they have to be open to hit and it is pretty far.

Thanx
the AMG already has the sprocket drilled and it's now set at that hole giving abt 4deg or 5 of retard. I also believe 1 tooth is alot. But work been slow at my shop and I'm a little bored lol.

Well I tried 1 tooth last summer to help with high back pressure and lost top end at the track. I was thinking advanced might do something with the headers. Get a little more overlap. But after talking to Web about it it seems that that would have to much negative effect in getting velocity in the exhaust stream. I have been thinking that there are only marginal gains in cams and headers for the dollars. I after working on it and trying things that the best bang for buck is head work. Then headers and then cams. It really depends on what you are trying to do. If you want the torque down low then high duration cams are not the thing. If you want high rpm peak hp then a bigger duration cam would help. I think for the 3.6 that just an exhaust cam would not be to bad an idea. The intake is pretty good. I would think that that matched with a worked over head and headers could yield 25+whp and keep the torque and maybe improve the torque as much.

Hello

I know this is a veeeeery old topic but what could you advise on cams for more torque? Not really looking for top end Hp. I am building a NA 3.4 AMG from a M104.980.
Got the block, custom pistons and OM603 crank. Grts Patrick

Be sure to check out Catcams. I am currently thinking about designing my next build which will be the M104 and I am running their cams in my M113 and they are a great product.
