Look at how heavily modified the inner bulkhead is....
No battery space on the right and modified space next to the fusebox on the left.
Rear of engine bay was made wider and deeper with this modification to fit the M117.

The picture is That of a Hammer V8 DOHC head engine which is way wider than a SOHC V8.
My continuing research shows Euro logs exhaust are narrow and tight to the heads so no problems there. Ignition ICU from euro V8 does not appear to present a problem either. Both cars have electronic speedometers no problem. V8 Tach would fit into 124 cluster tach hole. Saw a Ford V8 302 transplanted into a 190E (Smaller, narrower engine bay) that did not appear to be a hassle.

Everything I've read about a W201+v8 says the engine compartment won't hold it. I have a 2
Y that needs a trans. Putting a v8 in would be the easy thing to do, if it would fit. -cth

There was a very tight fit USA AMG 6.0L SOHC M117 build:

Can you provide any info on the location of the MB shop where the pics of the red 190 V8 were taken?

Old pix but it was at:

Atlanta Mercedes Repair

The shop owner is probably one of the most knowledgeable persons in the USA on M117-32V motors.

V8 swaps aren't that difficult on a 201. The biggest issue is the drivers side steering box.

The few examples I've seen have to swap in a rack and pinion. I plan to do a front exhaust crossover to a passenger side merge. Much easier than a r&p swap.
