AMG 3.4L M104980 engine

Hello Has anybody the specs from the M104.980 3.4L AMG engine camshafts ? I have read that AMG only adapted the inlet, but is this correct ?? And what about the timing for the inlet ?? Grts Patrick

Yes the cam are only changed for the inlet. And the cam setting 4mm holes are moved as I recall it on the ekshaust cam sprocket.

But remember this is not the only thing they also moved the resting point for the valves by 2mm. And the cam adjuster are also modified in what and with aerea it adjust to.

I have the catalog for the data I can give you later

Great info. Thx !

I did some further research about adapting the m104.980 to a AMG 3.4 copy.
I have found :
  • an complete engine block for bore to 91.5mm and porting the inlet and exhaust channel
  • a 603 300D engine for the crankshaft
  • a Tij sport street inletcam (250° lift 9.7mm) or regrind the original one ?
  • exhaust cam need to be advanced some degrees with new dowel ( 2° ?)
  • CR ratio to 10.5/1.
  • Adapting the bottom cyl liners for shorter stroke.
Remains :
  • headgasket; from a 3.2 possible ?
  • the 6 pistons. No idea yet what and how?
  • slots between cyl liners need to be closed ?
  • I do not know why they descend by 2mm the valve spring seats.
Anybody has more info?

Thx Patrick
