1992 500E for sale in Portland, Oregon
The ad (I think it was new last Saturday) reads as follows:
"1992 500E, Black/black, CD, heated seats, ultra rare! Great miles! $22,995" The ad is from a (specialty?) used car dealer, Blizzard Motors @ (503) 238-5510. Just thought some of you guys out there might like to know about it as I have noticed an almost cult-like devotion to this particular model. This may be well-deserved and is in no way meant to be a slam! Hell, I don't even know if this price is really even in the ballpark but I'm sure it could be if the car was in the right condition. Let me know if there is any interest as I would be happy to further investigate. A Happy (& SAFE!) New Year to All! Norm Olt |

I went and saw this car Friday afternoon on my way home from work. It is a higher-mileage car (I think around 135K) and anthracite kind of color (I don't know the exact color code) with a black leather interior. Overall a decent car, better than average interior. Bigtime/recent stereo, with disappearing faceplate, and HUGE amp and sub in the trunk. Semi-tinted windows, and strange (?) anodization on some of the exterior trim pieces. This made it look really garish. Lorinser wheels, 16", pretty good looking.
They wanted $23-24K for the car. Too high for what it was. I'd pay $17-18K max. Don't know if they would deal on it or not, but probably would. Also, I found a nice 2.3-16 at Monte Shelton Motors here in Portland. 98K, it belonged to a personal friend of Monte's who grew too old to drive. Looks to be a very nice car. 1986 model (first year). Cheers, Gerry |

Your kind reply...
... was very considerate. I guess I should have posted the original thread on the Hot Rods Forum as that seems to be where the 500E/E500 interests really reside.
My 420SEL seems to be adequately powered: when I wish to go fast I get on my ZX-11... Anyway, CHEERS! to you, too. |
