Finally! My New Wheels

1 Attachment(s)
After more than a year of looking around for wheels to put on my car and looking at hundreds of different wheels I decided on the tried and true EVOII's.:)

The car rides and handles GREAT! I find the handling is much more responsive to steering input which is nice.

Here's a pic:

man that looks good!! Too bad it's a ***** to get 18's of EVO's (Japan got them...somewhere). I still would've opted for an extra inch :P But that's just me :D

Okay you 18" FREAKS!

For the few, the brave ... the OE (to the ML Class) 18" EVO II (IZAR) wheel. Yes, they can be ordered ... list price is about $475 ea (not bad in the big picture).

Here's the kicker though ... the size is 18" x 9.0" with an ET of 52 mm. Hmmm .... the standard ET for the W124.036 is 34 mm, therefore a spacer (concentric of course!) of approximately 18 mm should do the trick!

So, who's going to step up? Anyone?

When I need to re-shod the Daily Driver, I will seriously consider this!

Guido,

I'm keeping the OEM Rims and having them restored next winter. I'm going to use them for the concours events. For now they're either going on the wall or in the attic.

I think -fad has a set he's selling, you might want to email him.

Everyone thanks for the compliments.

Doc,

The 18's are available in Japan but I chose not to buy them for three reasons.

1. I couldn't afford them ($1000.00ea:eek: ) I would have bought forged 18" HRE's if I was going to spend that kind of cash.

2. I didn't want to significantly increase the unsprung weight.....to me handling is just as important as appearance.

3. I'm going to concours the car and I'm hoping that the EVOII won't get me a significant point deduction since it was once available on the car.
