I'm sure many of you have seen pictures of my 92 500E posted here on MS. Well sadly to say that two nights ago my car was stolen. I never would have thought that it would get stolen. I know this may sound funny or stupid but if anyone hears or knows of a stolen 500E in the Southern California area I will reward them for information leading to my car. I am pretty sure it was stolen by a pro since there was no broken glass where it was parked. To all the 500E owners I suggest you think twice of where you park your car or you may end up like me. Now I have to sit around and hope that it will be found, but I'm sure if they find it most of my mods won't be there but I'll even take back just the car. This just goes to show you how screwed up of a world we're living in. Anyway you all keep enjoying your 500's and keep them close.
Thanks in advace for any help. vcci PS. Just in case you havent seen my car before here is picture of it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
Although I have never had a car stolen, I have endured several burglaries over the years, and I know the feelings of violation, etc. I will heed your advice and not take any chances where I park my car, and I will certainly keep my eyes open here in Northern CA. it is a distinctive car, easy to ID. Hey Run.
The vin # is WDBEA36E1NB709246. I hope someone runs into it. I still can't believe they stole my car, it's as if they waited for me to finish with all my mods before they stole it. I want to thank everyone for thier help and support, everyone here has been soooo cool and understanding I hope I never have to return a favor like this but if anyone needs anything I would be more then willing. Once again thanks to all and remember keep your car close to you.

question
1) where was your car when it was stolen?
2) where were you when your car was stolen? 3) how much time transpired between the time you left your car and returned to find it gone? 4) who knew where you were when your car was stolen? 5) did you file a police report and notify your insurance company? 6) I highly suspect an "insider" gave the thief/thieves logistical information. "Friends: how many of us have them?" |

the car was parked on a major street in front of a friend's apartment building.
I was upstairs at my buddy's place. I parked the car at 9:30pm and returned around 11:30pm when I noticed it missing. The only people who knew where it was at that time was my wife. I files a police report as soon as I noticed it missing. I believe someone had been following me for some time and took advantage of the opportunity.

If you were being followed, it had to have been by someone who:
a) knows your comings and goings, like clockwork b) lives along your normal commute-routes c) has staked out your driving habits/patterns d) is a professional, with backup/scouts/operations orders e) knows you and what you have done to your car f) frequents/lurks at forums like this to size up members' rides g) all of the above For the record, anyone is welcome to try to steal my 500E; however, rest assured that I will make it my unrelenting mission to find those responsible and exact my unflinching, excruciating, ruthless revenge - if not shutting down said work-in-progress, PERMANENTLY. Words of wisdom: "Don't F%&K with a man's car... EVER." |

Sorry to hear this happen vcci, I will definitely keep my eyes peeled, should be easy to spot with the modifications you've done.
Personally I'd be extremely pissed if this happened to me. Good luck finding it.............if it does come down to an insurance claim make sure they know the market value of the car.

Bummer, man. Sorry about your loss. Hope they find the car in good shape.
Did you get insured all of your mods with your insurance company? My neighbor had his Toyota truck stolen several years ago, and he had raised the truck, installed new wheels, Alpine sound system with CD changer, etc. None of this was covered. He found out that he needed to add this to his policy and let them take pictures of the mods for them to be included.

suginami,
I'm not worried about all my mods as I have dealer insurance and they cover everything I put into the car even spark plugs and oil. So I know I wont lose anything. Run.exe you are the man, how can I ever repay you? thanks for everything.

Nobody on this forum owes me ANYTHING; I'm glad to help anyone at any time.
Hang tough; no matter what happens, at least you are OK. Go for broke - and keep an even more vigilant eye on your next car (SL55?) |

Being in the car business I see cars all day long, my substitude car now is a 00 S500, but let me tell those who havent driven one yet that IMO the 500E was much more fun to drive. The S is smoother and more comfortable but I would take my E over it any day.
