Lee,

I asked about color choice for E55 today, while having my car serviced. They simply answer my question saying that E55 has the same color choice/combination as C43?? Does that mean it only comes with Black, Silver, or Flame Red??? With interior of All Black, Silver/Black, and Blue/Black??

P.S. It's my 72000km service, they charge me for $443 US, good or bad?? Anyway, I got a fully loaded C230 Kompressor as a loaner(no charge of course)kinda good huh......

(I have the E55 sales brochure sitting in front of me) It lists standard exterior colors as 040 Black, 744 Brilliant Silver, 197 Obsidian Black, and 143 Glacier White. Interior colors as being white/black, blue/black, or black/black seats. Birdseye Maple is the only wood offered.

Perhaps MB or AMG has shuffled around the color scheme choices since the brochure was printed. It is worth checking with more than one person.

Hope this helps...Lee

If I remember correctly a Star Magazine article stated you can get any Mercedes color painted on any new Mercedes for a $1,000 surcharge. Ain't cheap, but you'll have the only E-car in the area with your true color choice!

Lee is correct in the color choices for the 99 E55. But for 2000 the interior colors and wood are changing. This is,of course, besides all the numerous changes for the Eclass for the 2000 model.
The Blue/Black and Silver/Black color combinations are gone and are replaced with Red/Black and Green/Black.

So colors carry over for Y2K model, is it right?? As for interior combination, Silver/Black looks very cool, Red/Black looks racey, but Green/Black?? I have problem imagining Green/Black with any colors(except Green of course). Also, will it have burr walnut or something else(I kinda like the wood used in 1999 SL, the Chestnut or something, can't quit remember)??

Akry,

The Exterior color choices stay the same. My understanding is that AMG models will only be offered in those colors. Of course for a little extra money ...
The Black/Silver and Black/Blue interior colors will not be offered for '00 model. Of course will more money ...

The wood will no longer be the Black Birds Eye Maple. It will also not be the Burl Walnut. I don't remember exactly what type of wood but it should be a dark one as well.

The E55 has also been spotted in copper with two-tone black/brown interior. Was supposedly the North American show car; I was done on the deal (buying the car) 'til my wife saw the pictures....a little too snappy for her. Can I borrow anyone's .45??

The copper Black/Brown combination is part of the new offering that mercedes has. It costs approx an extra 4k.

Copper with Black/Brown?? That looks GOOD. Heheh, maybe that's what I will do to my '92 400SE.....lol

Anyways, Mercedes are offering specially design package for new S500(Expresso with brown interior, or Silver with Shell interior), and I am told that Copper Edition SLK will be availble right after Summer. E-Class and SL-Class will also get specific package. If by then when package is availble, will it be available on E55, too??
Thnx...

I was in a white E55 today at the test track. The white ext with blue/black interior looks pretty good. (white makes it more of a sleeper IMO) I still think silver with black/black or blue/black is the way to go... Should have pics up in about a week.
