Springs for 16v
Hey all:
I am looking for replacement springs for my 16v (SLS has been removed) to provide a firmer ride, more responsive handling, and slightly lowered height. The cut SL500 springs I have on now are fine but are a little too harsh for city driving. What is the next step softer springs from another body Mercedes? I was thinking of the following: 1. Cut 300E springs (or maybe Eibach 300E springs) 2. Cut 400E springs 3. Cut SL320 springs Any suggestions? What would be the best in terms of front/rear balance? Would the 300E be softer or harder than 190E sportline springs (which are like stock 16v springs)?

Yea, but I wanted to see if anyone has tried 300E springs because no one on 190rev had tried it. Unfortunately also, I can't get on 190rev to check out the responses and I don't remember them all.

i never like the idea of cutting springs...on the other hand, there's not alot of choices in lowering springs for the 16v either, 16v eibachs are discont. I have HR installed recently, so far so good. it lowers the car roughly 1.5"-2" depending on pad choice. FK has a similar drop. Beyond that you're looking at HR cupkit which lowers >2" which is way too low imo. I'm almost on the ground with my HR already. There's a bilstein kit at Bekker's which drop less than 1" but cost a few hundred more, too bad they wont sell you just the springs
