Window motor replacement R129-?Can Learoy help

Hi all

You may have read my previous posts regarding my window/soft top problems.

Can anyone tell me how to actually replace the electric window motor. I have removed door trim and see an inner skin. Can motor be replaced without reomving this. If not, how do I remove this inner panel.

I see that Learoy has replaced one of his motors in a previous post, how did you do it?

Thanks in advance

Have you read my post on the other thread?

Hi Gilly

I have read your last post, thanks for reply, but it doesn't tell me how to remove the motor from the door.

If neccessary, how do I remove inner door skin, there are lots of bolts on there. Will the glass be disturbed from the runner when I remove the skin?

Thanks

Hi r129 - sorry I didn't spot your post earlier but I haven't been about for a while - and now seems like the forum has had a face lift too!!

The motor's quite tricky to remove - you cannot remove the inner skin. It's all one. I'm struggling to remember precisely to be honest, but it was a case of removing the motor fixing screws and jamming my arm in the 'hand size' hole (you need to cut/remove the plastic lining covering this). You can remove the motor by pulling it through.. You don't need to remove the window assy - I think I just made sure it was up to keep it out the way.
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks Lea,

Managed to remove the motor this afternoon. As you said it was a bit tricky! Three 10mm bolts removed and then hand through one of the "holes" in the door. Window glass should be up to give more room.

Was all set to buy new motor, then opened old one and found the motor itself to be OK but the gears were all gummed up with dirt/grit. After a thorough clean appears to be OK so put old one back in. All working OK so far!!

Soft top also working OK now

Thanks for help

sorry i was a bit late, but hey sounds like you resolved it the same way as I. I also stripped mine down to find it gunged and gave it a thorough clean but mine still squeaked like a pig and so I decided to change it. It was a pig to do and really just didn't want to go though that all again a few weeks later!!

Keep your eye on it....

Glad the soft top's also now up and running..

Lea
