Soft top window questions?

I just took my hardtop off for the first time. I also got my first good look at the soft top, which looks great. The plastic windows seem to have a little bit of a haze to them though. Should I buy the "mercedes soft top window care kit" at $39.00 or is there other things that you guys have used that have yielded just as good or better results?
Thank you very much.

The Mercedes soft top kit works great! The plastic cleaner will make the clear window look like new. I could not believe how well it worked. Good luck!

I use www.hindsight.co.uk - works fantastic. Never tried the Mercedes product. Do a search here as there are several posts re window cleaners.

That stuff comes out to over $100 US. Is it that much better than the Mercedes stuff?

Well, I've never tried the Mercedes cleaner but I've had no need. Maybe someone here has compared the two, but what I can tell you is that I've been pleasantly surprised by Hindsight. My windows were very hazy with light surface scratches all over - with a 'slight' tinge of yellow. Hindsight did indeed restore the plastic to a far superior finish - lot of effort mind you. You will need at least 1 1/2 hours and plenty or masking tape.

Don’t believe the picture on their web sight, it's not that good and it will not remove deep scratches but for my car it was superb.

I might even have some pics somewhere, I'll dig them out if you're really keen.

You takes ya chance....

RE: Plastic Window cleaner

We have had excellent results with the Meguiar's products. We have the Mirror Glaze Plastic Cleaner ($10 a bottle). They have a new product called PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish ($5) that I will try when my current bottle is empty. Available at most car/rv/boat stores.

Meguirs makes the MB products, I find that the MB products or the Meguirs of the same caliber work best on the car. I just used Zymol on my MB for the first time and it is some really great stuff too!

Rear Window Cleaning and Preservation

I just replaced my rear windows so I am starting from new. My brother-in-law had all the canvase and clear windows on his 50' Cabin Cruiser replaced 8 years ago. The guy that did the job said there is only one way to keep these windows looking new. LIQUID PLEDGE FURNITURE POLISH (use Lemon if you want your car to smell pretty). Those windows today look as good as the day they were installed!!! We are talking Southern California, constant sun exposure for 8 YEARS!

I am using it religiously. :sun_smile
