mysterious engine racing??

I took my 380 out for a spin today and mysteriously and all of a sudden the engine started racing. Even at a dead stop I had to keep my foot solidly on the brake or off she would go. This lasted for about 2 minutes, then it went back to normal.Any thoughts on what would cause this?
Had to tell my 17 year old, sorry no Mercedes tonite.
thanks guys,
rememberjeff

Jeff,
Two things I could think of.
Idle speed controller or rusty throttle linkage.
When I had my 380 se, I had both.
The linkage scared the ... out of my wife and I.
Car got to about 65 in a 25 before I could
shut it down,
dan

Welcome to 107 ownership.

Do a search on Idle and you'll get quite a few excellent tests to determine the cause.
