Not yet, but I plan to!
I do run M-1 in my 300D and change it every 5K. It is said that M-1 will quiet noisy lifters after a couple of oil chages too! I also run synthetics in transmission, rear diff, brake fluid also. Why, because I am of the belief that synthetics are superior to standard lubes. Also extends drain intervauls. ![]() |

If you mean you picked the "myth" thing up here, I remember someone in the last big oil thread, 6 months ago, suggesting that the reason WalMart could sell M-1 for $19.89 5qt. jug, was because they had an inside with Mobile to sell deluted M-1 to an unsuspecting consumer public! There was no fact, or even hear- say, it was just someone blasting WalMart because they didn't like them, and wouldn't put it past them to try and pull off a stunt like this! Another member knew someone with ties to Mobile and said this was ludicrous and could never happen! |

I use M-1 15/50 in my 72 350SL, primarily because I want to ensure no possibility that oil would be a cause of any failure. The added cost is not a problem because this is a summer only car for me.
As to the myth, I suspect it is simply a myth with no basis in fact. GO figure... 230/8 p.s. also use M-1 15/50 in my old 230/8 for the same reasons. Oh, and no leaks of any sort. |

I started using M-1 two oil changes ago and I am very pleased with the results, the oil stays clean longer (doesn't turn black) and I have noticed a significant increase in my oil pressure, it is 2.75 at idle and 3 at anything higher than idle. I replaced all my leaky seals before I switched over to syn and have no problems. I noticed that when I pour the oil in it pours like water, so I think that is how it flows so much better. I am also getting 2 more miles to the gallon so that puts me at 23 MPG with my M104 with 128k miles on it. The oil is good and I hope that my little car lasts longer because of it.
Happy Benzing!

I will be using synthetic oil on my 1988 560SL as soon as I fix the head gasket oil leak. I have used Mobil 1 on all my other cars. Oil changes are twice a year.
My 93 Taurus 3.0 V6, has 203,000 miles using about an 8000 mile oil change intervals. There has been no change in oil cunsumption since new (it always burnt about 2 qt between oil changes since new). My 92 F-150 4.9 L6 has 162,000 miles using about a 6000 mile oil change interval. There has been no oil cunsumption whatsoever since new. On the 93 Taurus I had to remove the engine to change the front transmission seal last year at about 190,000 miles. While it was out I decided to change the timing chain only due to the high milage, which was really why I elected to pull the engine instead of the transmission. When I got the timing chain out it looked like new, there really was no reason to replace it but I had the new one so I replaced it anyway. John Roncallo |

I use Mobil 1. The car came from the factory with Mobil 1. The stuff is supposed to be the best. I can't see any reason to change.
