Wiper Problem

Driving home in the rain this PM, I noticed that the wiper on the passenger side of my SL quit working. Luckily the wiper in front of the steering wheel continued to work. After parking the car I tried to manually move the wipers. The working wiper would not move. However, the non-working wiper could be twisted slightly. If both wipers are connected to the same motor, then maybe the right side wiper is just spinning by its self.
Any help out there woulde be appreciated.

Wiper Problem

My car is a 1984 380 SL. While looking at the car this morning, I noticed that I could manually twist the non-working wiper unit. My feeling is that the wiper blade unit has somehow come loose from the shaft that turns the wipers. My question is: How do you tighten the blade unit so it doesn't slip.? There is a shroud or cap of grey metal around the base of the unit.
Any help would be aprecciated.

Wiper Problem

The linkages for the wipers are located under the dash pad, inside the vehicle.
Remove the glovebox. Drop out the glovebox light, disconnect the two wires to the light, remove the 4 or 5 grey plugs that retain the glovebox cardboard in the cavity. The plugs are two piece, so a thin bladed knife or a strong fingernail will do, lift the centre plug out first, then remove the locating plug it came out of. Replacement is reverse. You will then be able to see the linkage assembly and locate the problem. Hope that helps.

Since I wrote about a wiper problem yesterday, thanks to information I received from the Forum, my problem has been solved. I flipped up the hood over the base of the wiper unit, took off the nut and removed the wiper arm. The splines in the arm had been completely stripped out. I ordered a new arm from Bud' Benz in Ga. Thanks for the help.
