Spark Plug Wires

I had a missing (skipping) problem. I changed the spark plugs (Bosch); changed the fuel filter; change the air filter; cleaned the distributor cap (fine sandpaper and electric cleaner).

The car is running fine right now!

However, I want to change the spark plug wires. I was surprised to learn wires cost anywhere from $225-300 (OEM or OES) for a 91-SL300.

Can anyone chime in on where to find some quality and value wires?

The wires are expensive because they are solid copper.

You can buy cheap, aftermarket wires at your local parts store, but they are generally a copper / silicone blend.

OK, my wires have metal insulators which cover the spark plugs. I have learn Bosch makes replacement wires (no metal insulators, but plastic insulators). Bosch's wires cost about $100 less. Comments?

Maybe there is no need , but I try to buy the best parts possible or at least OEM which is, to me, the minimum.
I went with BERU wires ordered through the Canadian distributer for $240.00 CAD. They came directly from Germany, took two months and fit my M110 motor like a glove.
They were no longer available at MB but I could have bought everything separate and built them for about $400.00.
F#*k that.

Get good wires

I got a set of wires that were made up from a company using all MB components. They were not properly assembled. The wire was not stripped and terminated with the threaded end. They were just stuck into the end. Next time around I am making them all up myself, from scratch. Otherwise buy the OEM ones.

Wink

I got everything I needed from http://www.***************/ . A little slow in shipping, but all is well now. I changed all the items and the car runs great.

I saw a site on ebay which offered bosch 129 disturbutor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires all for one price.

wires

It cost me $250.07 for a set of BERU wires for my 113 engine and they look and fit just like the originals. $27.00 ea. for the plugs, 16 of them, my car still have the factory ones 60,000 miles, needless to say I'm sweating.
