alarm going off minutes after I leave car. SL500

Hi guys, did a search for alarm and did not come up with too much. Recently after I turn the alarm on my 96 SL500, probably 10 minutes or so, the alarm goes off. If I shut it off, another 10 min later it goes off. I have to lock the car with the key to bypass the alarm.

Anyone have any idea? Is it the control module or some sensor? If it is the control module how much do these run, and can they be purchased aftermarket?

Thanks.

I hope someone has the fix for this because my 92 is doing the same thing. I had my shop unplug the alarm to give me some peace and quiet!

On the 92 there are two electronic modules in the RR fender well above the battery near the trunk lid hinge. One works the door locks and the other works the alarm. Unplugging the harness to the alarm disarmed it with no ill effects. The 96 system could be different,,,

I had the same issue.
The problem was in the interior lights control unit.
The alarm is sensitive to current and will go off any time there is a draw-change in the sistem.
My advice is to unplug the interior lights on the door panels and under dash, the one next to the in,t mirror switch 'off'.
Good luck

About five times this summer, my '91 went off intermitently, parked next to the 18th green at my club. Went over well. No idea why though it appeared heat related.
