heater hose replacement
On my 73 450sl there are 2 heater hoses coming out of the rear block. One looks very easy to replace yet the other one dissapears into the fire wall. Where do you access this end. Also do you use just standard heater hose?

Thanks Carson: The plastic cover is no problem but the grille is an issue. It appears to be riveted, on the inside lip when hood is lifted. Do I drill the rivets out?
|
No those are not rivets but plastic pins, Just push out the
center "Dowel" and then pry out the body with a thin screw driver. Oh yeah, it helps to remove the bottom portion of the chrome windshield moulding, only then will you be able to access the hose clamp and remove the heater hose. Why not do both sides while you are at it???? Cheers! |
Oh yeah, if someone put actual rivets there, [should be 3 per
grille] you will have to drill them out to gain access to the hose clamp, [and remove the lower windshield moulding]. I know of no other method. Good Luck!!! |
how to remove lower windsheild moldng on 450sl 1977

Yes the pins are plastic and yes the center part just pushes through with a small phil head screwdriver. The windshield moulding, remove the cover clips on left and right, and just lift or pry gently. Mine came out with no problem.
Heres a question- How do you remove the wiper arms. The 13mm nut removed and do you need a small gear puller. I don't see any splines so it must be a taper fit. thanks |
