I'm glad we have a forum of our own! In September 2000, I bought a 90 500SL in great shape. White with grey bumpers and panels, and a black softop. Because of the time of year in south-central PA, I had the hard top installed. I also had the front rubber gasket on the hard top replaced, as part of the purchase, to avoid water problems. To no avail, since I get water coming in at the top of both A pillars. I've taken it back with the 95 MB service bulletin as a guidline, but my shop (not MB authorized shop) hasn't solved the problem.......Any ideas, or suggestions on where in the general area I could go? I'm not willing to pay a MB dealer a fortune, unless I know they will be able to solve the problem. [Harrisburg, PA area, or within 75 miles, preferably]

A pillar leaks stopping them

I had similar inconvenience with my 94 sl600. Follow the service bulletin carefully. If the drain channels are plugged, it WILL leak in

What I did was put a layer of black RTV under the rubber seal on the top of each A pillar and set the convertible top down lightly. This 'filled up' the low spots and gave th erubber seal a good base on which to sit. After the RTV cures overnight, you can latch it down.

I suspect most leaks are caused by unevenness on th etop of the A pillars and the rubber seal just not having enough oomph to seal in those conditions.

Anyone have a copy of this service bulletin

I have the dreaded water leak and have tried myself to fix only to have it reappear, I always forget about it when the weather is nice. Any insight that someone could post would be greatly appreciated. Wet leg Sl driver.
