Thanks Forum, Soft Top Problem solved

This forum is the greatest thing in the world, especially on Sundays when no mechanics are working.

I migrated from an 86 560SL to a 99 SL500 in late fall. Yesterday was the day I took the hard top off and was ready for my first 129 convertible experience. However, the soft top would not raise. The light just flashed and there was no noise or any indication of any activity. Thanks to the forum I did a series of trouble shooting checks (fuses, hydraulic fluid, latch status, etc.) And even though I don't have the "soft top tool" I even learned what to use instead to open up the deck lid. After all that, I manually closed the soft top and tried to cycle it down and then back up and everything worked perfectly!

By the way, this is my first convertible with a wind screen and I am now a huge fan. The cabin is calm and quiet with the top down, just great.

Also, the rear plastic window was very cloudy. Mr first stop was to pick up some mcguiars PlastX. It works like magic, the rear window looks brand new now.
