Smell burning oil, any suggestions?

97k on a 96 sl500 I smell buring oil after running the car fairly hard and parking it.

Im hoping its not the rings or the beginnings of an engine problem. I took a peek and dont see any leaking around the valve covers, although there is slight leaking under the engine, but not a lot at all.

it sounds like a minor lead onto the exhaust header, could be valve cover or other things. look carefully and i believe you will find it.

Let me look into my crystal ball...hmmmmm...I see you fixing the small oil leak...I see you washing your engine to clean off the old oil...I see you motoring along with a smile on your face because the burned oil smell is gone and you are free of worries about possible engine problems.

Found a PCV hose that was cracked in half with a ton of old oil around it, figured that was it. The heads and valve covers looked pretty clean other than the area around the hose.
