Yes...I received the same invitation. While it sounds intriguing, I'm not convinced about spending the $2400.

Does the car come equipped with vinyl seats to minimize the "other" kind of accidents? Just wondering...

Not really sure I need to spend $2400 to remind me that I'll never have one of these!

OTOH, after reading a report on what kinds of tools, training, and time it takes to perform even the most seemingly trivial work on this car, I'm not sure having lots of money would balance out the hassle! Maybe having two, one to drive and one in the shop might be OK. But, it's a thinly disguised race car using some pretty exotic technologies...10,000$ ceramic rotors, fer goodness sakes...would be a major drag to drop one while installing it.

I've driven the one at our local dealership when I worked there. The rear visability and turning radius are terrible. The throttle is so touchy that backing up and parking requrie your foot on the gas and brake..
The dealership sent one of its technicians for SLR training; it was a two week course!
When I left in late July there was an open recall for the SLR; under hard driving conditions the engine compartment can get too hot for the alternator...

The oddest thing about the SLR is that it has a regular shoulder/lap seatbelt... I'd expect to see a harness in a "supercar".

Someone mentioned the $10,000 front rotors. It dosen't end there, just about all parts have 199 xxx xx xx part numbers; talk about expensive maintence...

Only people like Paris Hilton can afford cars like the SLR. Didn't somebody of the forum say that she has one of them? What a shame!

I guess the cost of the parts isn't an issue if you have the wherewithall to buy one in the first place. Didn't the Ferrari Enzo have those ceramic brakes on it, too?
