Question 73 450 SL Washer Switch

I just acquired a 1973 450 SL that was in the process of restoration. The guy I got if from did not remember how the foot-activated switch for the windshield washer mounted. The switch works fine, activating the washer pump and wipers, but it is mounted on a long plastic "cover" that looks like it would either mount along the threshhold below the hood lever or perhaps up under the emergency brake brackets. I've gone to our local dealer, but can't pull up anything but the switch itself.

Does anyone have a 73 SL that could tell me how and where this mounts?

Mine

is mounted on the firewall at the edge by the sidepanel. It is approximately at the point where the fperpendicular part of the firewall starts the slope toward the floorboard. It is dead west of the steering shaft.

Thanks Smack--so it covers the emergency brake cable as it comes down the firewall?

If it is the black plastic piece about 10 inches long with three attach points then yes it is the cover for the cable. It should also have a piece of carpet on it. At least, mine does.
