Parking brake adjustment on 560SL

I tired unsuccessfully to adjust the parking brake on my SL last week. I figured I'd get around to it one day. Well, today I went to get an inspection and the car failed because the parking brake didn't hold. I did not know that was part of the inspection. So now I've got 30 days to get it fixed.

I'm in the garage now trying again. Still no luck - my parking brake set up does not look like the one in the manual. There are directions for up to 1985 and for post 1985 and mine doesn't look like either one or at least I'm missing something.

The directions say to loosen the adjusting screw and I sure cannot find such a screw. I can see the adjusters in the wheel through a lug bolt hole, but turning it doesn't seem to do anything with the phantom screw not loosened I guess. I had my wife engage and disengage the parking brake while I watched the movement underneath and the mechanism was moving, so I assume the problem is in the adjustment in the rear wheels.

Input appreciated.

Thanks.
