I dunno about those lights under the bumper, the orange ones that is.

Awesome car though, I bet it is a blast to drive.

My 280ce has the same Michelins.

SEC seats, nice!

I'm curious how driving the 500 with a stickshift is like? Contemplating doing a manual box swap in my 500 some day with the right parts.

AMG put the SEC seats in - they are nice. It was a good idea.

Damien has a Getrag close-ratio box in it with the dogleg shift pattern. First gear is down left and low, so the shift to second is a time-consuming one. Good for track racing, bad for street racing. I've learned to rev and start in second if I'm wanting a "launch".

Driving it - it's a German muscle car. The engine howls, the exhaust growls, and when you put your foot down, you'd better know where you're going because the first thing to happen is the car breaks the tires loose, the hood lurches upward in front of you, and before you mind can think "OH MY GOD!", you're near 6000rpm and thinking "crap, I have to shift already?", so you hammer on the clutch, the nose drops down a bit, you shift upward to second, pop the clutch, and bam, the engine snarls again, the nose raises up in front of you, and the rear tires break loose again. Second is a great gear - lots of travel before the shift to third - lots of beautiful noise/music made in second. The car is a demon, it loves to stretch its legs, and it sounds wonderful doing it. I'm anxious to get it on a dyno to see what the real numbers are.

On the other hand, you can go for leisurely stroll, stay off the throttle, shift smoothly, and it drives/rides just like a Mercedes should - a tourer.

I call him Damien for a reason.

Does your engine have the AMG cams/headers? I have read where they did stroker kits to 5.2, 5.4 liters. Yours one of them? Or stock 240hp?

In a fantasy, I would love to drive a stickshift 107 with the Hammer engine!

That's one of the meanest looking cars I've seen in a long time. Just beautiful. So don't ever put it for sale...Just call me, and I'll wire you the money...I'd like to check that out in person sometime, if I get through your area..What state are you in..? I spend most of my "America Time", east of the Mississippi, but get everywhere eventually. I've never seen an SL, I liked so much..Just cool, Very Cool...

The 4v heads couldn't fit in the r107 engine bay, so AMG polished/ported the heads and intake, dropped in a performance cam, repiped the entire exhaust, and put in the close-ratio Getrag manual gearbox (built for quick speed, not top end cruising). Good for around 300hp over the stock 240hp.

The SL never, never gets sold. I want my boys to drive it to proms and such - about 12 years away. Thanks for the nice words.

What size wheels are those. I recomend you not bring it to the east cost, I'm taking a liking to those wheels.

Why don't you buy his 280E?

It is a real AMG car, and what's more, it is for sale! Look at his signature.

It's more rare than the SL, that's for sure.
