Question R129 AC Problem - Stuck on EC / Theft Code

My first post and it is for help. Long time lurker but there are some very knowledgeable people here. . . so I ask . . . I was driving fown the road and all of a sudden the ac switches to "EC." Warm air blowing continuously. I press the EC button but it remains in EC mode. No matter what, the climate control is stuck on "EC. The fan is working fine, and no error codes shown on the OBD II scanner. Any ideas?

Also, I disconnected the battery and now the radio had the "code" sign. Where do I get the code to enter into the radio without paying Becker? SInce I disconnected the battery and received the anti-theft code prompt, the top will not go down. Is this interconnected with the theft deterant system?

Read the entire string at M-B FREE Roadside Assistance in the US

Drive, don't call, to your local Stealership. A SMILE WILL HELP IN THE NEXT PART! Give a Service Advisor your DMV Registration, this has the VIN, and ask him to look up the Radio Code in the M-B system. The only thing that might stand in your way is if the Radio has been changed out prior to you getting the car and the s/n of the radio has changed. If this has happened you will have to pull the Head Unit with Removal Keys p/n 963589010500 @ approx. $5.25 and get the new s/n then give it to the Service Advisor

The radio code is in the black leather case with the owners manual which you should have been given when you bought the car. Check all the fuses associated with AC system.

If you do a search, I think you will find that the problem is a faulty evaporator temperature sensor. This is not difficult to replace.

Your OBD II scanner only diagnoses your car's drivetrain. For the other dozen-or-so systems, you will need an advanced scan tool. The exception is your climate control. The procedure for diagnostics for this is found toward the back of a code manual that you can download here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1266535-diagnostics-sl-pre-94-a.html?.#post2342164.
