Hard Top Locking Problem

Hello. I just joined today, and am the owner of a 1995 SL 320. I have stored the hard top in the garage for a couple years, and decided yesterday to put the top on. The soft top raises and lowers perfectly, but when I put the hard top on, the red light stays lit on the button and I can hear one of the rear hydraulic cylinders continuing to run intermitently. The top appears securely latched down, but if you try to drive the vehicle the alarm beeps. I actally just sold the car to my brother (bought myself a '96 SL320) and he wants to take the top to his home several hours away, but I don't think that would be wise with the hydraulic cylinder trying to run. Has anyone ever come across this?? Thanks, Bryan
