None required. Just stick a long 1/4" drive extension, with a 10mm socket into the hole beneath the airbag in the bolster. Take the bolt out and the airbag assembly comes right out.

Good idea to disconnect the battery first.

Thanks the battery is disconnected. The hole you are talking about is the one that goes through the carpet stuff under the dash or one that can be axcessed by going up under the dash? Todd

I sent 3 videos on how to remove the early 129 dash to Sendspace. You can download them from these links. This service expires after 30 days, so get them now. Tod

Hope it helps....

Tecqboy,
You are living proof that there are angels!! I am trying to put a new wiring harness on the sl600. Everything is under the hood except the wires going to two oxygen sensors, which requires removal of the dash to do. I am in way, way over my head, but at this point it is sink or swim. I was at a total standstill until you sent the videos. They are great. I am going to try and get the dash out right now. Cannot say thank you enough, since no-one seems to know much about the 600. Will let you know how things are going. thank-you, thank-you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Todd

You can push out the cluster from the back without the special tools. It's probably better that way, as the tools can sometimes crack the cluster. The switches in the wood console just unplug...

Another video for the console. I'd assumed you had this out before you started on the dash. The videos are helpful, but I've never figured out what happened to the steering wheel.
