Liquid dripping on my right foot

Just bought a red, 89 560 with 103,000. Really enjoying her. I am totally sold on this ride.

This car was a garage queen, immaculate, and it shows. I am driving her (how can you resist?) but keeping her in the garage and only taking her out when there is zero chance of rain.

Two days ago I pulled into my office and felt something dripping onto my right foot. I reached up under the lip under the dash to the right of the steering column and there was water coming from somewhere. It wasn't coolant or any kind of oil.

Is there a condensate line somewhere that might be clogged? Again, she has not seen any rain and has been gentley hand-washed (no hoses just sponges) twice since I got her 10 days ago.

Anyone have any idea whats causing this?

Continuing on the second post, and assuming the AC (or defroster - that also turns on the AC compressor) was on:

There's a pan underneath the AC coil in the dashboard that's supposed to collect the condensate off the coil. It should have two drains that go down into the transmission tunnel. If those drains are clogged the pan fills up and it runs to the side to drip on your or your passenger's feet.

Be very careful when you're feeding a looped-over wire up through those pipes from under the car to clear the lines. If you dislodge the drain pipes you'll have a constant drip on your feet until you tear apart the dash to fix them.

if you are positive its not coolant, then the only logical answer would be as noted above

Familiar Problem

The solution to this problem is to blow air up throught the two plastic lines mentioned that are lcated on either side of transmission.

This is a very common problem and anyone who knows these cars will do it for you and most won't even charge you. all except the dealer that is!

The suction line coming off the AC evaporator is missing some of that gooey black tape that prevents them from sweating. I have the same problem. It is a bear to get at the problem area. I often wear sandals and it drips on my right toes. That tape can be had at an AC supply store.

Not necessarily. Rain water can be coming into the cabin from a poorly sealed windshield, or from the drain under the cowl, possibly because the underlying sheet metal has rusted out.

The first post indicated there was no rain.

It would be nice of 560Paul would let us all know what the problem was.

There are 4 drains (if I recall). They all run up around the transmission and into the AC.
Mine were plugged and so I put the car up on some blocks and crawled under with a wet vac and and coat hanger and CAREFULLY worked a bunch of dirt out of the drains....no more wet feet! I did have one come out in my hand - which required removal of side interior console panel to replace....no big deal, but they are accessible at that point as well!

I guess I should have asked this before: where does the water that runs into the two grates under the windshield go?

Thanks
